The Spice Tailor (http://www.thespicetailor.com) is a website focused around creating authentic, delicious Indian meals in minutes. Every Tuesday night they host ‘Spice Night’ an opportunity for spice tailor fans to get together and watch Anjum work her magic in just 15 minutes.

Thespicetailor.com was originally hosted on our shared hosting, but due to unprecedented demand for ‘Spice Night’ (where people watch and live chat about Anjum cooking), they decided to move to a VMware dedicated server. This allowed them to scale the server depending on the number of users. MySQL and Apache tuning was performed by our team to help support the thousands of people watching the cooking and chatting online. After watching Anjum cook, visitors can then purchase The Spice Tailor products on their e-commerce enabled site.

The server was setup within a few hours and the site was quickly migrated by catalyst2, after testing to ensure everything worked perfectly, the server was passed over to the Spice Tailors’ technical team. It was then load tested to ensure that it could easily cope with the expected number of users and further tuning by the catalyst2 team was performed to ensure the site performed under load.

Mahesh Iyer, VP of Information Technology for The Spice Tailor said “Moving to a dedicated VMware server gave us the customer experience and flexibility we required for Spice Nights. Catalyst2’s technical support team provided great support in ensuring that infrastructure was in place as the number of viewers increased.”

Next week Anjum will be cooking, Duck and Pomegranate in Punjabi Tomato Curry Sauce, Cumin-Crusted Sautéed Potatoes, Saffron Dessert and Classic Mint Lassi … our mouths are watering already.
